I want to spend $2,500 on a grill. What should I buy???
I’m surprising my husband this father’s day with a new grill. I’m looking to spend up to $2,500 on a propane or natural gas Weber. Is Weber the best? Is natural gas better then propane? Does natural gas cost more? Is it worth having someone tap into my gas line for an outdoor hook up? What are flavor bars? What does it mean if it says it’s infrared? I know very little about grills so feel free to give me a lengthy description and/or explanation. I’m spending a lot so I want to get the best. I’d appreciate links too. Thanks so much!
I’m not really a grill expert but reports say:
# “Grills with wide or thick stainless or cast-iron grates tend to be best at searing and browning quickly, but heavy grates can take longer to heat up.

# If you often entertain large crowds, look for a large grill with lots of grilling, shelf, and storage space.
# Main burners warrantied for 10 years or more are likely to last longest.
# Make sure the rolling cart that supports the firebox and lid doesn’t rattle when shaken.
# Nonmagnetic stainless (pricier 300-series stainless steel) is less likely to corrode.
# More heat isn’t necessarily better. High-heat burners don’t guarantee quick warm-up.
# Side burners with higher-rated BTU’s per hour can be faster. But don’t count on a grill’s side burners to simmer as well as the ones on your range.”
